[glow=Navy,2,300]Split Sky[/glow]
Split Sky cantered sadly toward the red roses. He couldn't take the memory any more. It was haunting him!
Split Sky and Sweet Darling were frolicking through the forest, when a cougar jumped out of nowhere and got the back of her neck. Full of hatred, Split Sky reared, kicked the cougar, and the cougar went flying. The cougar still wanted a meal. So, he went for Split Sky this time, getting onto his back. Split Sky reared until the cougar fell off, and then Split Sky trampled him to death. As he finished off the cougar, he heard Sweet Darling whisper his name in a raspy voice. Blood still running down his back he galloped over there. Sweet Darling's eyes were rolling in pain, and it scared Split Sky. He laid beside her, purring her name softly, trying to comfort her through death.
'Sweet Darling,
My Sweet Sweet Darling.'
Split Sky continued to repeat those two lines through fear and tears. Finally, Sweet Darling whispered in a raspy voice 'I love.... y.... yo.... you...'She nuzzled him with as much love and strength as she could manage. He nuzzled her back.
Split Sky whispered in his velvet voice 'I love you too. I really do. And I will stay with you forever. I will follow your hoof prints. Save me a spot to graze. Love me and stay with me, as I will you. I know it is much to ask, but, it is important you stay mine through life and death. I do love you'
She smiled weakly and then she whispered 'I'm scared.' He nuzzled her and laid his neck on top of hers, careful not to hurt her and continued to repeat those two lines, over and over again,
'Sweet Darling,
My sweet Sweet Darling.'
Her last breath was come and gone, with four words. 'I love you. Live.'
He knew it was true. But the live part was weird, though he knew what it meant. She wanted him to live, more, happier. He knew it.

He knew it was true. But the live part was weird, though he knew what it meant. She wanted him to live, more, happier. He knew it.
There it was again!
By the time he came back to the future he was walking through the red roses, the ashes turning his light brown legs black.
He was big. Very big. 16.6hh in fact. His build was muscular although quick and swift. He couldn't help the usual memories. She loved roses.
A swift presence overtook Split Sky, and nickered her name; "Darling? Sweet Darling? Where are you?" Then he collapsed to his knees in pain and shock. His bronze eyes continued to search the empty field for her, finding nothing. The wind was strong, making the roses dance and his mane and tail get messy. Carefully, he lowered his head, in frustration and more pain, letting his main fall over his white blaze. Sweet Darling was the only mare that saw him for his handsome, kind personality, not some over sized muscular giant. He tried to stand, but his back hurt too much. Another painful memory.
The stallion kicked him once, twice, three times! The colt still hadn't taken off running yet. He was flinching, but didn't run. He stood his ground, finally, the stallion gave a hard bite to the Split Sky's flank, making him rear up, hooves lashing everywhere, teeth bared. The stallion thought he was up for a fight and brought up his hind legs, bringing them down on Split Sky's back. That sent him running down the hill.
All he heard after was the booming laugh of the stallion as the colt fled down the hill.
Now his weak spot was the back. It was sore and made it hard for him to get up.
Sadly, Split Sky rolled over onto his side, and tried to get up from the start. It hurt like hell! He made it though. She stood up and painfully started trotting over the the little river. The started to rain lightly, helping him get rid of the ashes. He bend over quietly and swallowed as much water as he could.
